Description:
This research group investigates if attachment security moderates children’s critical responses to a Robin Hood character who ‘steals’ from the rich and gives to the poor. The data has been, and will be, collected over Zoom, and one task for this group is to refine the online data collection tool. In the Fall and Spring 2022-23 the group focused on preparing materials to submit an IRB, and on discussing critical readings related to the study’s themes: wealth inequality and economic justice, development of children’s thinking, development of racial and inter-group bias, and development of pro-social attitudes and behavior, etc. In the Fall of 2023 and Spring of 2024 pilot data was collected and the group began coding the attachment-based story stem task using the Attachment Focused Coding System. In Fall 2024 we begin coding parent interviews for RF. In Fall 2025, with Hannah Maté on maternity leave, we will press on with data collection and completion of the IRB to collect data in India. All volunteers are welcome to help expand this data set beyond the current modest sample size of 22.
