Center for Attachment Research (CAR)

The Center for Attachment Research (CAR) is a university based lab, research group, and center for training. The Center is directed by Howard Steele, Ph.D. and Miriam Steele, Ph.D. Miriam Steele is an Anna Freud Center trained psychoanalyst and Professor among the Clinical Psychology Faculty at The New School for Social Research (NSSR). Howard Steele is Professor and Chair for the Clinical Psychology Faculty in the Psychology Department (NSSR). Research Assistants at CAR include PhD students and MA students at NSSR, undergraduates from Eugene Lang College, the New School for Public Engagement, and Parsons, The New School for Design, with visiting interns coming from all over the world. Miriam Steele, Ph.D

Both Howard Steele and Miriam Steele are among the 2017 Bowlby-Ainsworth Awardees so recognized
by the Center for Mental Health Promotion. H. Steele and M. Steele are co-editors of the 2008 book, Clinical Applications of the Adult Attachment Interview, and the 2018 Handbook of Attachment-Based Interventions, both published by the Guilford Press, New York. The Steeles are members of the
Adult Attachment Interview Trainers’ Consortium.
