Parent REARING Coding System (PRCS)

The Parent Rearing Coding System (PRCS) runs in tandem with RCS and is an ongoing research endeavor analyzing the parent’s internalization/implementation of the foundational therapeutic principles of the Group Attachment Based Intervention (GABI). 10-minute clinical videos of parent-child dyads interacting with clinicians in GABI are coded using a 5-point Likert scale (where 1 indicates a “missed opportunity” or room for growth and 5 indicates an instance of parental mastery) across the seven distinct REARING constructs (Reflective Functioning, Emotional Attunement, Affect Regulation, Intergenerational Patterns of Attachment, Nurturance, and Group Context). Individual composite scores on the PRCS are then analyzed to assess levels of parental sensitivity and reflective functioning. This coding group may appeal to those who are interested in the dissemination of evidence-based treatments in psychology, dyadic reciprocity, parental sensitivity and attunement, emotion regulation, and reflective functioning.
